Frequently Asked Questions
What does a Podiatrist do?
Podiatrists are foot health experts who are university-trained to prevent, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate medical and surgical conditions of the feet and lower limbs. Often, these conditions stem from other underlying health issues such as diabetes, stress fractures and arthritis. They work with athletes, elderly, paediatrics, and everyone inbetween!
Do you accept NDIS, DVA, TAC, WorkSafe, and My Aged Care?
Yes, we are registered to provide podiatry services under all of these schemes. We just ask that you provide us with the appropriate documents, and contact details of any case managers or accounts teams (where applicable) prior to your first consultation. If you are unable to organise this in time, you will need to pay privately for your first consultation and seek reimbursement yourself. If you would like more help with this, please contact our friendly admin team on (03) 9007 2267
How quickly can I get an appointment?
At our Melton clinic, we have a 48 hour appointment guarantee for new patients. If you cannot find an appointment online within 48 hours, give us a call on (03) 9007 2267 and we will be able to make one for you. At our Sunbury clinic we do not offer any guarantees, but you can usually be seen in the same week. For home visits, please contact us to check for the soonest availability in your area.
What should I bring to my appointment?
Please bring:
- A copy of your Medical history and medications
- Orthotic devices (if previously fitted)
- Imaging, reports, or referrals
- Your most commonly worn footwear, including casual, work, sport, and school. It is okay to bring a whole bag of shoes to the clinic!
- Clothing that is loose fitting, appropriate, and easy to move around in for your assessment
How long will my appointment take?
Initial consultations are up to 40 minutes in length. Review consultations are up to 40 minutes for musculoskeletal pain / injury rehabilitation, and up to 20 minutes for nail / skin consultations. Surgical procedures are usually 60 minutes in length.
Do I need a referral?
No, anybody can book to see one of our podiatrists and pay privately, without having a referral.
What does it cost?
For a thorough explanation of our clinic rates, take a read of our Spring Podiatry Price Guide (updated April 2026).
Do you offer bulk billing or concessions?
No, we do not offer bulk billing or concessions. We pride ourselves on providing a high level of service, with thorough consultations and treatment plans. This would not be sustainable under these conditions.
If you book an appointment with your GP beforehand, you can discuss whether you are eligible for a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP). This would allow you to have up to five (5) consultations per year to be partially rebated through Medicare. The rebate amount is $61.80, and is processed after you have paid for the consultation in full.
How often should I visit a podiatrist?
Getting to a problem early can improve the prognosis, leading to better outcomes. Preventative care is much easier, cheaper and better for your health. Most people go to the dentist once or twice a year for check-ups as they have been around for a very long time and it is considered “normal” to do so. The same should be a minimum for foot health check-ups. If your feet have issues, the frequency of visits would then increase as per recommendation.
