How Much Does a Podiatrist Cost in Melton? (2026 Pricing Guide)

Aug 20, 2025

If you’re dealing with a foot or ankle issue and you think you may need to see a podiatrist, one of the first questions you will have is “what will this actually cost me?”

At Spring Podiatry, we believe in full transparency with the pricing of our clinical services. In saying that, every patient presents to our clinic with a unique circumstance, so there is no one-size-fits all answer. In this guide we’ll break down our pricing structure, and then explain what actually affects the cost.

Quick Answer: Podiatrist Costs in Melton (at Spring Podiatry)

Initial Consultation: $165
Review Consultation – Pain / Injury: $130
Review Consultation – Nail / Skin: $100

Shockwave Therapy Consultation: $150
Nail Surgery – One Side: $595
Nail Surgery – Additional Sides: $100 ea
Custom Foot Orthotics – One Pair: $750
Custom Foot Orthotics – Two Pairs: $1250

What factors will determine how much you pay?

Consultation type:

Initial consultations are always a higher rate than review consultations. This is because when we see you for the first time we need a longer consultation to ensure that we allow enough time to understand your issue, conduct a thorough assessment, and come up with a management plan. Subsequent review consultations and treatment usually don’t require as much time or administration, and are therefore a lower rate.

Musculoskeletal pain and injury rehabilitation cases are often more complex, so they require more time and command a higher rate than nail and skin care appointments.

Number of appointments required:

Some issues require a greater number of consultations than others to resolve. For example, if you were coming to see us for an assessment of your shoes to help prevent blisters for an upcoming hike, this may only take 1-2 appointments to sort out. If however you have been suffering with heel pain for six months or more, this will likely require a more extensive course of treatment and therefore more visits to our office. After your initial consultation, your podiatrist will help you to understand what the plan is, and how many appointments will be needed.

Additional products and services:

Shockwave therapy, ingrown toenail surgery, and custom foot orthotics are common services that our podiatrists offer. If you were to be recommended any of those treatment options, they would be an additional investment for you on top of our consultation rates.

We also provide products such as moon boots, ankle braces, slides/thongs, and foot creams. If any of these options were required for your recovery, your podiatrist would discuss the cost with you before proceeding so that there are no suprises!

How do our prices compare to other podiatrists?

Industry leading podiatrists across Melbourne charge between $125 – $260 for an initial consultation (depending on the length of time allocated to the appointment), and $100 – $150 for a review consultation. Custom foot orthotics cost between $500 – $1000 for one pair, and ingrown toenail surgery costs between $400 – $900 for one toenail. Shockwave therapy is either charged as an additional fee on top of standard consultation fees, or allocated a specific consultation type like we have.

As you can see, our rates fall well within these ranges. It is important to note though that not all clinics are transparent with their pricing.

What rebate options are available?

Anybody can book to see one of our podiatrists and pay privately, without having a referral. There are however a couple of ways that you can reduce your out-of-pocket investment:

Private Health Insurance:

If you have “podiatry” included as part of your “extras cover”, we can process your private health claim at the time of your appointment. This would mean that you would only have to pay the “gap” of whatever was remaining after your rebate.

Medicare Care Plan – GP Referral:

If you book an appointment with your GP beforehand, you can discuss whether you are eligible for a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP). This would allow you to have up to five (5) consultations per year to be partially rebated through Medicare. The rebate amount is $61.80, and is processed after you have paid for the consultation in full.

Choosing Based on Price Alone Can Cost More

While cost is naturally an important factor when choosing a podiatrist, it’s not the only one to consider. Factors such as the thoroughness of assessment, clarity of diagnosis, and overall treatment approach can all influence your outcome. In many cases, receiving the right care early can help resolve issues more efficiently and reduce the need for ongoing treatment over time.

At Spring Podiatry, our rates reflect our years of experience, clinical expertise, and high quality care that we aim to provide. We often receive compliments from patients that our assessment and treatment is very thorough. Pricing ourselves appropriately helps us to be able to sustain this and continually improve our service!
